The Fort Steuben Chapter of the NSDAR was organized in 1921 at the request of the State Regent, Mrs. William McGee. The name chosen was Steubenville Chapter. The Chapter met in the Grill Room of the new Fort Steuben Hotel. The chapter's name was changed in 2003 to the Fort Steuben Chapter.
